VELA YOUTH FUND, INC.

VELA Youth Fund was conceived by Dr. Earl Mitchell, and embraced by his wife, Sandra Mitchell. They Founded the charity on May 23, 2016 with the aspiration to improve the lives of black and brown youth residing in the United States, the Caribbean, and Africa. 

Our 10 Year Anniversary marked an important benchmark towards the organization’s overall mission. We have provided guidance and financial support for our important Capstone

Projects; enabling the construction of youth centers to be built in Cameroon and South Africa. ​​​​​​

​​​​This comports with our vision to enhance community life, and to create a safe place where children and young adults can learn, grow, and access opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.  Our celebration further recognized VELA’s 10 years of support for the education of youth in the Caribbean, the Coachella Valley, and in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. This benchmark anniversary happily corresponds  with the debut launch of the VELA's

 “Black Youth Development” (BYD) Program website.  This free of charge, comprehensive curriculum is available to any church, nonprofit, community group, family, and others to access at www.bydfree.org.

We feel wonderfully blessed to have reached this important milestone, and to have helped a whole new generation of young people along the way!
